year: 2020

Location: Tonbridge, Kent

Nestled deep into the heart of the Kent countryside, this new dwelling draws upon inspiration from the surrounding agricultural buildings.  Replacing a dilapidated farm worker’s house, the new property takes full advantage of the views.  First floor, large format glazing and terrace spaces allow the bedrooms to fully enjoy the impressive views of the surrounding, uninterrupted countryside.

Black Crittal windows have been used to strengthen the agricultural character of the property, along side black corrugated cladding and red ‘farmhouse’ bricks.  Inside, the material palette retains the warehouse feeling with smoked oak parquet flooring and further use of Crittal doors and internal glazed screens.

The house comprised two stories above ground for the main living space and a further 100m2 basement level housing the cinema, ‘Soho house’ workspace and gym.
